Responsible for general oversight of the Tax function including tax accounting, compliance and research.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensures timely and accurate filing and payment of income and non-income tax returns and payments.
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of income and non-income tax expenses/benefits including the preparation of tax provisions for GAAP and statutory-basis financial statements.
  • Research and resolve issues related to income and non-income tax matters.
  • Coordinate examinations by federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Drive automation of the tax accounting function coordinating with accounting personnel
  • Assist accounting staff in problem resolution and account analysis
  • Make recommendations for policy and process improvement and implement as need(s) is identified.
  • Coordinate the efforts of tax advisors engaged by the Company for ongoing and specific tax projects including tax return preparation.
  • Provide assistance on special projects as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ability to travel by automobile, plane or other public transportation as necessary
Candidate Education:
  • Required A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business
  • Preferred A Master's Degree in Taxation
Candidate Experience:
  • Required 7 years of experience in Taxation in public or large company, Insurance tax is a plus.
  • Required 1 year experience in leading/supervising others
