The Medical Economics Senior Manager oversees a team of financial analysts who provide timely, accurate, actionable data and analysis supporting the department, area, and corporate key initiatives and manages corporate financial analysts and regional support to meet the key initiatives of the company.
Essential Functions:
  • Manages and supervises Medical Economics staff to facilitate standard reporting and ad hoc analysis
  • Manages and develops direct reports who include other management or supervisory personnel and/or exempt individual contributors
  • Develops strategies and ensures maximum efficiencies in utilization of human and financial resources
  • Oversees Medical Economic projects and initiatives, directs all necessary follow-ups and communicates results and recommendations to senior management
  • Plans, conducts and directs complex projects/programs necessitating the origination and application of new and unique approaches
  • Oversees and conducts monthly analysis identifying opportunities to reduce cost and utilization, to include review and dissemination of reports with summary overviews to highlight issues facing the organization
  • Manages financial analysis of medical cost
  • Manages company-wide capitation calculation and payment
  • Oversees the contract modeling process
  • Develops and manage new reporting tools based on the needs of the Regional representatives in Provider Relations, Contracting, and Medical Management
  • Develops and provides actionable recommendations to senior management relative to all analysis and/or ad hoc reporting
  • Leads and manages meetings to facilitate communications in regional initiatives to improve operating results
  • Develops initiatives to increase profitability and decrease medical expenses
  • Develops and maintains relationships, and acts as primary point of contact with appropriate external financial institutions
  • Administers risk contracts
  • Proactively evaluates government reimbursement processes to determine areas of risk and opportunity and provide senior management with necessary updates and/or strategic recommendations
  • Ensures corporate initiatives are implemented to achieve optimum results
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.)
  • 8 years relevant health care or industry experience
  • Substantial financial management experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:
  • In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple priorities with limited resources
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate clearly and grammatically both complex and simple messages to all levels within or outside the organization
  • Special attention on the ability to communicate effectively to senior management
  • Ability to articulate ideas and recommendations in a concise and actionable presentation
Computer Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of database reporting tools to assist in preparing analysis
