This key position on WellCare's investment team is responsible for managing, monitoring, and growing WellCare's fixed income portfolio. Researches new asset classes and strategies, makes investment recommendations, and assists with overall portfolio asset allocation and strategy decisions. This role will require close coordination of efforts with counterparts in corporate Treasury, Accounting and Tax departments to ensure successful implementation of team's investment actions. Also, will partner closely with the senior leadership team to enhance the structure and process of ongoing investment management program.
Directly engaged in the daily management and oversight of WellCare's $1 billion fixed income investment portfolio.
Conducts analysis and monitoring of existing investment managers, portfolio asset allocation, and strategy recommendations in collaboration with the senior and executive leadership team.
Monitors and evaluates external manager performance and ensures appropriate guidelines, risk management and other controls are in place and followed.
Performs research and due diligence on potentially new investment managers, strategies and investments; including but not limited to leading due diligence efforts, visiting managers on-site, and creating evaluation and recommendation materials.
Participates in on-going assessments of the investment strategy, portfolio positioning and enhancements. Identifies and proposes changes in investment strategies in order to improve performance and total return.
Contributes well-founded strategic and tactical analysis and insights to the investment process and program.
Helps formulate investment policies, governance documents and develop tools to monitor portfolio positions and risk exposures.
Assists with determining appropriate asset allocation mix and portfolio benchmarks over the long and short time horizons.
Works closely with Treasury Planning and Operations, Accounting, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Tax, and Investor Relations in the coordination and delivery of portfolio performance and monthly/quarterly reporting.

Additional Responsibilities:Candidate Education:
Required A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or Mathematics
Required 5 years of experience in Related work experience with a record of achievement as an institutional investor in an insurance company, endowment, foundation, plan sponsor, family office, asset management firm or institutional consulting work environment.
Required Other Fixed income expertise
Preferred Other Familiarity with highly a regulated insurance space, especially in the area of state-specific insurance investment statues
Advanced Ability to analyze information and convert related activities into a comprehensive work plan
