REPORTING TO: Sr. Director, Finance

Provides Financial strategic and tactical leadership, oversight, and direct analysis & support to the IT Area for budgeting, financial planning and analysis, capital projects and relating operating expenses, and the IT business process. Provide appropriate reporting around these activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Partner closely with the CIO and the IT Senior Leadership to drive the of planning and management process of the IT budget
  • Direct a team of resources to support and improve IT financial performance
  • Identify, analyze and explain budget variances to actual results, with responsibility to adjust, re-class or reserve entries as required
  • Review and reconcile monthly prepaid reports to ensure entries are set up to the correct GL and CC
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, and lead the quarterly, monthly, & periodic forecasting as required. This process to include bottom-up budget builds for all IT expenses
  • Support IT in the monthly and quarterly cycles of activity (e.g., accruals, project accounting, time reporting, etc.)
  • Monitor and interpret IT expenditures; forecast future spends
  • Create and/or maintain financial models supporting Finance and IT requirements
  • Review the IT financial results with management and make recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure that budgeted funds are available to meet ongoing operational & capital investment needs
  • Assist area leadership in formulating strategic and long-term business plans
  • Research and report on relevant factors influencing IT financial performance
  • Analyze and recommend change, developing any necessary operational procedures and advise area leadership accordingly
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for, and participate in, cost reduction opportunities
  • Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement
  • Compile, review, verify, and provide FP&A approval for all IT vendor requests, ensuring all appropriate fiscal concepts are applied based on type of spend
  • Produce timely & accurate financial and supporting reports according to specific deadlines (e.g. creation of monthly SG&A financial reports with plan variance explanations & IT labor actuals reports for Cost Models)
  • Track and monitor key business metrics, reporting observations to management
  • Manage and maintain the tracking of capital budget projects
  • Create additional reports and analysis as requested by management
  • Work in close cooperation with the CIO and the IT Senior Leadership Team across all financial processes (Planning, Monitoring, Reporting plus Budget and Cost Management)
  • Develop financial management processes to improve the effectiveness and timeliness of monthly / quarterly tracking and reporting
  • Operate as a liaison between IT Vendor Management and Finance functions (especially Financial Planning & Analysis and Accounting)
  • Assist internal and external auditors to facilitate auditing process as requested
  • Keep abreast of changes in relevant corporate policies, accounting guidelines and financial regulations

Candidate Education:
  • Required A Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Required A Master's Degree in a related field
Candidate Experience:
  • Required 7 years of management experience accounting, finance, planning and analytics
  • Preferred 7 years of experience in managed care and/ or health care industry
Candidate Skills:
  • Advanced Ability to analyze and interpret financial data in order to coordinate the preparation of financial records
  • Advanced Ability to communicate and make recommendations to upper management
  • Advanced Ability to drive multiple projects
  • Advanced Ability to multi-task
  • Advanced Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Advanced Knowledge of medical terminology and/or experience with CPT and ICD-9 coding
  • Advanced Demonstrated written communication skills
Licenses and Certifications:
A license in one of the following is required:
  • Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
