Product Innovation & Strategy Manager

Reports to: Sr. Director, Product

This position helps drive strategic transformation and innovation for the Medicare product. In partnership with Medicare Product Development, Finance, Population Health Services, Market Leaders, and Operational Leaders, this role assists with developing the strategic direction of WellCare's Medicare Product and drives strategic planning, product innovations, and product/market expansions. Innovations may include product benefits, programs to improve member/provider experience or other strategic innovations to support Medicare growth. Position is responsible for annually achieving a targeted number of innovations for the Medicare product. This role is highly visible to senior leaders across the company.

Essential Functions:

  • In support of WellCare’s Product strategy, drives strategic product initiatives and the execution of key project deliverables across a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders in the areas of product innovation, market and product expansion.
  • Develops reports, prepares analysis, and designs strategic presentations to create our Medicare product strategy. Collaborates and develops high level business requirements to support implementation of approved product strategies.
  • Independently frames key messaging and/or points of view for strategic presentations to the leadership team.
  • Conducts industry and competitive analysis, assesses market trends and industry innovations.
  • Identifies major risks facing the organization for key product strategies and innovations.
  • Performs quantitative industry, financial analysis and leads market research projects.
  • Researches and recommends operational and product transformation initiatives.
  • Oversees and reviews analytical work prepared and provides quality control over strategic analysis and documents.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare, Public Health or related field; OR 5 years of experience in a directly related field.
  • Preferred: MBA, MPH, MHA, or graduate degree equivalent
Candidate Experience:
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience with a Medicare organization, strategy consulting firm, investment bank, or corporate strategy organization
  • Required: Healthcare industry experience and working knowledge of state and federal regulations related to Medicare
  • Required: Working knowledge and experience with regulatory issues and standards to include implementation and compliance

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data in order to coordinate the preparation of financial records
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Works well under pressure and provides quick analysis to decide whether or not potential ideas move on to more detailed research and evaluation.
