Intern I - IT, Infrastructure - Database Administration

The Infrastructure Database Administration (DBA) team is responsible for providing database engineering and support for Oracle, SQL Server, MarkLogic, MongoDB, MySQL environments. DBA duties include capacity planning, installation, upgrades, configuration, replication, migration, refreshes, monitoring, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, high availability, Disaster Recovery and more. DBAs work closely with other infrastructure teams and application teams and have at least a general breadth of IT knowledge of operating systems, storage systems, networking, interfaces, applications and extensive experience in database management.


Essential Functions:

This intern will learn the various activities involved as a large enterprise database administrator. They will be peered with various members of the team to learn the different roles, process and responsibilities that the team performs.

  • Gain a solid understanding of the role and activities of a database administrator with hands on experience.
  • Perform selected DBA activities in a controlled environment ensuring a safe and successful experience
  • Gain a solid understanding of SDLC lifecycle release and change management, access, security and compliance, enterprise system monitoring

    Candidate Education:
    • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with major in Management Information Systems or Computer Science and a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
    Candidate Experience:
    • Required No Experience
    Technical Skills:
    • Any experience in RDBMS concepts and entity relationships using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle DBMS
    • Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Utilizing SQL editors
