Intern I - IT, Application Development - Application Delivery - Encounters & Claims Intake

The department performs core gateway services, marshaling EDI transactions actively being processed for service to and from various entities. The EDI department manages, support and provides business enablement along various levels of transaction validation and processing into and out of WellCare. The EDI transaction management is central to enrollment, members/providers obtaining and understanding qualified services, claims/encounters submission, payment and more.

Essential Functions:

The intern will gain experience with a large process oriented organization and increase knowledge of technologies like C#, PL/SQL, MS SQL, Java, Web Services. Gain exposure to enterprise application architecture, coding standards, patterns and practices with C#, Oracle, and MS SQL guided by professional Software Engineers with many years of industry experience.

  • Develop code, understand specifications and documentation
  • Update and write technical documentation
  • Work with Software Engineers to support ongoing projects
  • Learn maintenance and performance tuning, and understand the importance of time management and multi-tasking
  • Work with team member on one project that will improve or enhance a process for the benefit of IT and the business teams

    Candidate Education:
    • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with major in Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems with a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
    Candidate Experience:
    • Required No Experience

    Technical Skills:
    • Any programming language experience

    • Preferably some basic SQL, C#, and .NET experience
