Intern I - Finance, Treasury

The Treasury Department is based within the Corporate Finance Group. Treasury plays a central role in managing the day-to-day financial activities of various WellCare entities. There are 25 associates who are responsible for Cash Management, Investment Management, Capital Planning, Insurance and Risk Management, Accounts Payable and Travel & Expenses.

The Team is responsible for:

  • optimizing liquidity
  • maintaining debt requirements
  • maintaining banking relationships
  • insuring the businesses
  • managing corporate and reimbursable expenses
  • generating stable investment income returns

The intern will participate in several key ongoing projects, support new initiatives and benefit from daily interaction with seasoned Finance professionals with diverse backgrounds and will rotate between 3 areas of Treasury - Treasury Operations, Treasury Planning and Risk Management, spending equal amount of time (1 month) with each team.

Essential Functions:

Treasury Operations:
Assist with utilizing recently implemented Treasury workstation to enhance value, examples include:
  • Improvements to health plan cash flow forecasting
  • Implementation of payments module
  • Daily cash flow positioning

Treasury:

Assist with various projects related to unregulated cash flow forecasting, capital structure analysis, and monthly/quarterly reporting deliverables. Assist with updating the annual Rating Agency presentation, which will require coordination with other departments.

Risk Management & Safety:
Assist with annual renewal period for several corporate insurance premiums. The Candidate will assist with analyzing potential costs vs. budget and contract terms, as well as various other ad hoc projects as needed to assist with the renewals.

Candidate Education:
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with a major in Accounting, Economics, Quantitative Economics & Econometrics, Finance / Asset Management and a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
Candidate Experience:
  • Required No Experience

Technical Skills:
  • Advanced skills in using full MS Office suite, with emphasis on Excel
