Intern I - Finance, Treasury - Investment Management

The Investment Team is responsible for oversight and management of WellCare's $2 billion investment portfolio. The team also provides advice and oversight for $4 billion in cash and cash equivalents managed by Treasury/Cash Management.

This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain a practical, multi-faceted and highly useful experience at a crucial department of a Fortune 200 company. WellCare’s Investment portfolio generates $100M in investment income annually and is an important factor in the company’s profitability. The Investment Management Intern will participate in several key ongoing projects, have opportunities to interact with top-tier asset managers, observe and learn about practical aspects of investment management for an insurance company, support new initiatives and generally benefit from daily interaction with seasoned Investment and Finance professionals with diverse backgrounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with formulating multi-asset Capital Market Assumptions which will be used in mean-variance portfolio optimization
  • Collect and synthesize return and volatility assumptions for various fixed income asset classes
  • Assist with generating new investment ideas, asset class research, and evaluating RFPs from external asset managers
  • Assist with improving investment portfolio analytics, compliance monitoring, and reporting package to Senior Management and the Board

    Candidate Education:
    • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with a major in Accounting, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Econometrics, Finance / Asset Management, and interest or progress in the CFA Program. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.

    Technical Skills:
    • Advanced skills in using full MS Office suite, with emphasis on Excel
