Intern I - Finance, Pharmacy Analytics

The Pharmacy Analytics team analyzes the drivers of pharmacy expense and revenue results and trends. This analysis focuses on root-cause analysis; members drug coverage, drug utilization mix, drug cost including pharmaceutical company pricing/products, contracting and Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) performance measures and rebates to identify drug cost opportunities across the organization's markets and product lines. The department is also responsible for certain annual filings with CMS (Centers Medicare and Medicaid Services), PBM oversight and audit support.

Essentials Functions:

Support the Pharmacy Analytics department with a focus to report, evaluate, identify opportunities, project trends and improve operational/financial performance by creation, development and maintenance of reporting (various frequency, standard and AdHoc.)

1) Pharmaceutical rebate process

  • Performance and net drug cost impact
  • Opportunities for improvement
  • CMS filings

2) Develop ad hoc analysis to support:

  • Pharmacy rate setting/audit requests
  • Financial and Operation dashboards metric variance deep dive
  • Financial forecasts

3) Market research

  • Pipeline drugs
  • Drug trend study
  • Impact of legislative changes

Candidate Education:
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with major in finance, accounting, statistics, economics or MIS and a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
Candidate Experience:
  • Required No Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate to advance excel skills
  • SAS beginner
  • SQL beginner/intermediate
