Intern I - Finance, Medical Economics

The Medical Economics team analyzes the drivers of trend in medical expense. This analysis focuses on root-cause analysis, population health, contracting analytics and advanced analysis to drive cost saving opportunities across the enterprise.

Essential Functions:

The intern will learn how to validate financial data for consistency and accuracy and gain knowledge of application of statistical models and health insurance company operations.

  • Gain hands-on experience with data gathering, analysis and reconciliation
  • Develop reports under management guidance and by working closely with the department's analysts

  • Maintain various databases used for trending and value initiatives analysis

  • Develop variance to forecasted results in reporting

    Candidate Education:
    • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with a major in medical economics, finance, public health or statistics and a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
    Candidate Experience:
    • Required No Experience

    Technical Skills:
    • Basic MS Excel
    • Understanding of databases
