Intern I - Accounting, SEC Reporting

Accounting Operations and SEC Reporting is broken down into the following areas:
  1. Medicaid and Medicare revenue recognition
  2. Medical benefits expense accounting and analysis
  3. General accounting, technical accounting and external financial

The internship would be focused on the traditional accounting operations side which completes the monthly close: fixed asset accounting and reconciliations, cash reconciliations, rent accounting, prepaids, general SG&A accrual, legal and bonus accrual. The position will be almost completely project based depending on the needs of the department.

Examples of potential projects includes:

  • Assistance with Lease standard implementation- Review lease terms, hold discussions with real estate personnel, and then determine proper accounting treatment and analyze data in the system to ensure proper classification, conclusions
  • May close- The intern will get an introduction to other areas- bank reconciliations, compensation, intangible assets.
  • Q2 Close and reporting: Preparing the company’s external financials to understand “how it all comes together”, and to see the process from prepping the financials to releasing results to the street
Candidate Education:
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a college program with major in accounting and a minimum 3.0 GPA or Pass ratings.
